Welcome to secova lab!
Creative ideas and initial "prototypes" for even better occupational safety in the future:
Fresh from the sam® innovation lab - presented at A+A 2023 in Hall 4, Stand B23
What does the sam® EHS software from secova have in common with Apple’s iPhone? Both were first introduced in 2008 and, despite their wide range of functions and continuous improvements, have consistently focused on easy, intuitive usability since their inception. “As easy to use as an ATM” is the credo of the Münsterland-based software company. This fixed point is accompanied by continuous optimization and further development of the solution system. The aim is to make the work of safety experts, managers and users (now over three million) easier and safer. Over the past 15 years, the browser-based sam® software has been expanded to include numerous functional modules in addition to the basic EHS system for online instructions and risk assessment. With the sam® EHS Manager app for mobile use virtually anywhere or sam®-VR (Virtual Reality) for tangible but safe training “just like in real life”, secova has also repeatedly presented innovative solutions.
The topics of “digitalization” and “artificial intelligence (AI)” are becoming increasingly important not only for the world of work, but also for occupational health and safety. What new, creative applications and solutions can we develop using the various new technologies? – This question constantly motivates the secova team to drive forward new, innovative and even unconventional ideas for an even more versatile sam®. The company has launched its own “secova lab” as a pool for these ideas. The initial results and prototypes are now being presented at this year’s A+A – the world’s largest and most important trade fair for occupational safety. This will take place from October 24-27, 2023 in Düsseldorf, the secova booth is in hall 4, booth B23. In addition, Johannes Türk-König (Head of Sales at secova) will speak on the topic of“Providing comprehensible instruction in the future…A target group analysis – Gen Z and Millennials” – to be held on October 25 from 12:20 to 12:40 p.m. at the “Trend Forum” in Hall 9, Stand C65.
On mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, functionalities are increasing in which augmented reality (AR) is already being used. How can AR technology be used to create real benefits for sam® users in the overall EHS context? The secova lab has developed numerous ideas for this, which are now being presented at the trade fair for the first time. For example, secova has prepared a small showcase for A+A on the topic of “Visualization of hazards via AR scan”. Initial thoughts are also being given to the social media-style dissemination of a safety culture within the company with the help of “safety stories”. And why shouldn’t employees create their own “safety avatar” in future, which will then accompany them in their playful, visual access to all safety-relevant information? Visitors to the trade fair can expect further ideas such as a “Rainbow” GBU viewer or a PSA scanner.
But secova also offers a lot of innovation with its very latest functional module: The “sam® PPE Manager”, which will make its debut at the A+A in Düsseldorf. As PPE only begins when hazards cannot be excluded by other means, this innovation consists of two parts: The integration of additional functionalities in the risk assessment and the stand-alone module itself. This means that the necessary PPE requirements for specific activities or certain locations can now not only be identified from the relevant GBU, but also managed and assigned directly. In collaboration with our partner UVEX, sample risk assessments and hazards were enriched with PPE recommendations. When selecting the hazard factor, users thus receive a direct recommendation for the category of PPE required in each case. Also included are a PPE matrix, evaluation, catalog and, on request, a “PPE Expert Check by UVEX”.
The motto of this year’s trade fair is “People count!” In principle, this also applies to sam® with its more than 3 million users. In order to determine the relevance of the various secova lab ideas for them, the trade fair team is therefore particularly pleased to receive every single piece of feedback. Of course, secova will not only be presenting its numerous innovations and enhancements at its stand at A+A. The trade fair team will be happy to show all interested parties the comprehensive EHS solution system sam® for professional compliance management. To make it easier for companies to meet their numerous obligations relating to occupational health and safety, they can put together the functional modules that best suit their needs and complement each other to create “their” system. There is also a choice of modules for hazardous substance, health, incident, maintenance, external company, compliance, idea, document and survey management, as well as a qualification matrix and a voting app.
