secova presents its digital EHS solution system sam® at A+A 2019
"Digitalization of work" was the hot topic this time at the recently concluded A+A 2019 in Düsseldorf.
At the world’s most important trade fair for occupational health and safety, secova presented how companies can master their day-to-day business more easily and with greater legal certainty “digitally”. With its numerous function modules, the sam® EHS software system offers suitable solutions for a wide variety of tasks. And not just stationary on a PC, but also mobile via smartphone and tablet – or even virtually with an interactive VR application.
“What is sam® and what relief does it offer for my daily challenges?” – The many members of the secova trade fair team were happy to answer these key questions at stand A 65 in hall 6. The overall system, its various functional modules and numerous application options met with great interest. The stand was very busy on all four days, with numerous qualified, personal consultations taking place.
Train safely in virtual space with sam®-VR
VR glasses on, controller in hand and thanks to sam®-VR, trade fair visitors were right in the middle of an interactive virtual training course.
A “highlight” at the trade fair stand was clearly the “virtual reality” application sam®-VR, which numerous trade fair visitors were able to test for themselves on site. With this innovative in-house development from secova, users enter an artificial room that reproduces an actual working environment. In this simulation, they can then train certain work processes, including risky ones, “just like in real life” – and in complete safety. Mistakes are even expressly encouraged! This is because they make the consequences immediately tangible and call for direct corrective action. Without any real risk of damage, the level of knowledge as well as the awareness and personal responsibility of each individual for safe working are strengthened in the long term.
Another advantage of VR training: In contrast to exercises and explanations on the actual object, no work processes have to be stopped or interrupted in the simulation. In addition, employees can “train” virtually until every step of the work process is really secure. With sam®-VR, “virtual reality” is not a dream of the future, but already a powerful digital tool for further improving occupational safety in the company.
In the digital age, it is also becoming increasingly important to have relevant data and information to hand at all times and everywhere. The sam® EHS Manager – an app for smartphones and tablets – has been established in practice for several years for a wide range of mobile applications. This “electronic assistant in the palm of your hand” provides important information directly on site or records situations and stores them in the central sam® system in an audit-proof manner. Interested parties were able to try out how easily this works on an oversized smartphone.
The latest innovation from secova is also suitable for mobile devices: the sam® Voting app – presented for the first time at A+A 2019 – is an excellent way to carry out interactive effectiveness checks. The app is particularly suitable for personal training situations. The training participants can “link in” to the training in just a few seconds using a QR code. Whether for group training sessions or surveys and opinion polls, meaningful results are available after just a few clicks. The interactive voting also raises awareness and increases the fun factor for the participants.

However, the “star” of secova’s offering is and remains the holistic EHS solution sam® itself. Each individual function module – for example for instruction, risk assessment, external company, maintenance, incident or health management – is a powerful tool in its own right. However, sam® reveals its full potential in the ideal, smooth interaction of the individual modules, combined as required to create a company-specific solution system. And the best thing is: despite all its functions, sam® is very easy to use – as simple as an ATM! All this has already convinced over 1 million users.
TÜV Thüringen was a partner at the A+A 2019 trade fair stand. It has closely examined the process quality of the sam® risk assessment and certified all of them as correct. secova will receive the corresponding “TÜV badge” shortly.
The “big” A+A, which takes place every two years in the fall in Düsseldorf, was able to further expand its importance as the leading trade fair. 2,121 exhibitors from 63 nations were represented for the first time in ten exhibition halls covering 78,000 square meters. During the four days of the fair, they attracted more than 73,000 visitors from over 100 nations to their exhibition stands. The next trade fair date in Düsseldorf has already been set for October 26 to 29, 2021.
