secova 'sweats' for the Evangelical Youth Welfare
During their active month in 2022, secova employees diligently collected kilometers in support of a children's home run by the Evangelical Youth Welfare Münsterland.
“Sweat for the Kids!” – Under this motto, the employees of secova were highly dedicated to the children of Evangelical Youth Welfare Münsterland during their sports active month in June 2022. The goal was to collect as many kilometers as possible during this month – regardless of whether running, walking, or cycling – together or individually. At the end of the month, the kilometers collected in this way were converted into euros. A total of 2,182.98 euros was collected, which was then donated to the Evangelische Jugendhilfe. Florian Blümel, a pedagogical employee at the youth welfare, was now able to receive the corresponding symbolic donation check on behalf of his children.
In this case, it refers to the intensive residential group located on Hermannsweg, just outside of Tecklenburg. ‘The children require intensive care and benefit from the low-stimulus environment there,’ explains Blümel, justifying this deliberately chosen peripheral location. They belong to the so-called Trauma Type 2 group and had to experience various forms of violence in their original environment. As a result, and especially due to accompanying neglect, these children are severely restricted and various behavioral problems have developed. They not only require support from integration facilitators in their everyday matters, such as school, but also assistance to better process what they went through.
Role-playing games or simply messing around are very important for these children. In this way, they not only learn to feel their bodies, but also gradually to process their past and find their way back to a certain normality. They need to rebuild norms, values, bonds and security. The seven children in Tecklenburg, aged between six and 16, need intensive day-to-day support and their own safe place to retreat to. They live there voluntarily and have to actively say “yes” to it themselves in advance. These children really enjoy their annual summer trip, which was particularly enjoyable this year thanks to the secova donation. They went to the North Sea coast, where every day was a great experience.
Their vacation home “Nordseeschloss” not only offered spacious rooms and plenty of room to run around, but also a living room and fireplace room, barbecue area and even a bouncy castle. During the week-long leisure time, the program included numerous activities such as kite flying, a play barn, geocasting, a visit to the zoo, an adventure park with a summer toboggan run, swimming and a sea trip to the seal banks: “All in all, we had an eventful, fun, adventurous, at times challenging and wonderful vacation camp. Thanks to their donation, we were not only able to undertake these great activities, but we were also able to treat ourselves to an ice cream, order pizza and have a proper barbecue. …Thank you so much for making this great experience possible!”
The entire secova team is very pleased that their donation to the Evangelische Jugendhilfe has made it possible for the children of the Tecklenburg residential group to have such a wonderful leisure week. Incidentally, the tip for this year’s donation recipient was provided by their employee Dennis, who also had the honor of delivering the check. Next year, the provider of the EHS software solution sam® will once again be launching its Active Month and diligently collecting kilometers in the process. This not only promotes the health and stamina of employees, but is also converted back into euros and used again for a good cause. Every drop of sweat is really worth it for such a goal…
