Patrick makes a conscious decision

Patrick, a trained communications electronics technician and state-certified computer scientist, joined secova several years ago as a full-stack application developer after working for the federal government and in industry: “Right from the start, I liked the fact that the work here is very progressive rather than bureaucratic and that most things can be implemented quickly.” Nevertheless, he took a three-year excursion into quality assurance in between – and realized that he missed “coding”. The structural changes implemented at secova in the meantime – such as the separation between “frontend” and “backend” or the newly established product management – finally convinced him: “I’m delighted to be part of the team again! At secova, we are continuously developing in the right direction. Things are being thought through even more, implementation is structured more optimally and the work itself is even more varied, also because we jump between modules more. I made a conscious decision to work as a Frontend developer to come back, because I can see what I’m putting together – like a Lego set. That excites me!”

Even though “computers have always been part of my life”, the computer only plays a very small part in Patrick’s private life: “I’ve never been a gamer on a PC or console, I prefer to spend my free time in other ways.” Instead, he describes himself as a real family man – with his partner and three children, a Labrador and a pug – and therefore particularly enjoys the time they can spend together at home or out and about. There is only one place where Patrick’s private life as a programmer shines through: The topic of “home automation” fascinates him and he wants to implement it step by step within his own four walls. Otherwise, however, he simply feels most at home with his family. And he also appreciates the informal, very personal atmosphere in the secova team: “Openness and honesty – these values are really practiced here. You can tell that everyone here puts their heart and soul into it.” He was therefore happy to come back to us and felt welcomed back so quickly, “as if I had never left. Working together here is professional and relaxed, very flexible, everyone can develop in their own way – without any particular formalities!”
