Donations by sacrificing comfort: secova is camping!
EHS software specialist secova carried out its 2024 strategy check at a campsite - and is now donating the €24,650 it saved
Donations by sacrificing comfort – that was secova’s motive behind the idea of holding the 2024 strategy check on a campsite. “Swap a hotel bed for an air mattress” was the motto for the majority of employees at the EHS software specialist from Rheine. The entire secova team meets regularly once a year to work intensively on one or more topics. In the past, this multi-day workshop always took place in closed rooms with appropriate technical equipment – not so in 2024! Limiting oneself to mobile whiteboards plus pens and paper “without modern bells and whistles” increased the ability to concentrate on the essentials. The fact that meals could also be consumed more or less outdoors thanks to a caterer also reduced costs.
A total of 24,650 euros was saved compared to the previous year. And this amount is now donated to various organizations. All employees who opted for camping were allowed to choose a donation recipient for their saved share. A small personal sacrifice (of comfort) to be able to give something to others in need – this fits with secova’s fundamental attitude. The Münsterlanders, who support companies in the field of occupational safety with their online solution system ‘sam@’, frequently and gladly donate. This is triggered by community campaigns such as the annual ‘Active Month’, the ‘Gaming Legends’ or the ‘Living Advent Calendar’. The annual greetings to customers and partners have also been sent exclusively digitally for a long time, and the postage costs saved in this way have been donated.
Exactly 60 secova team members opted for the ‘Donate by sacrificing comfort’ option. Thanks to this large number, around 40 organizations and associations will now receive a donation. The range of recipients is also widely diversified, but some focal points can be clearly recognized. Many Secovians are obviously particularly concerned about children and animals in need of help. The recipients listed multiple times include the Children’s Cancer Aid Münster, the Child Protection Association (local branches Rheine, Grafschaft Bentheim, and Braunschweig), Heart Wishes, and the German Children’s Hospice Association. The list of various organizations for better animal welfare is headed by the Rheine Animal Welfare Association. ‘Aktion Deutschland hilft’ also receives multiple donations. The list also includes various church communities and sports clubs as well as other organizations and associations that are committed to the welfare of people or animals.
