New in sam®: Support of SDSCom 4.x for digital safety data sheets
There is now a new function in sam® that makes your work with hazardous substances even safer and more efficient. It is now possible to read digital safety data sheets in SDSCom format directly into sam®. Our software currently supports version 4.x of this digital exchange format promoted by the Federation of German Industries (BDI ). This makes work noticeably easier for anyone who has to draw up operating instructions on a regular basis.
What is SDSCom?
SDSCom is a standardized, XML-based data format that was specially developed for the exchange of safety data sheets. Companies can thus transmit safety data on hazardous substances easily, quickly and uniformly by digital means. The use of this format ensures precise and seamless transmission of all security-relevant information.
SDSCom 4.x for digital safety data sheets – What does this mean for sam® users?
With the new functionality, you can import digital safety data sheets (SDSs) in SDSCom XML format into sam®. This has many advantages:
- Automation: Manual entry of security information is no longer necessary. Imported data is integrated directly into the sam® database and is available for the creation of operating instructions.
- Time saving: Thanks to the automated data transfer, you save valuable time. The imported phrases and information from the SDSCom data sheets can be used immediately to create the operating instructions.
- Accuracy: Automatic transfer minimizes the risk of human error when entering hazardous substance information. All relevant data from the safety data sheet is transferred precisely and completely to the operating instructions.
- Flexibility: You can obtain digital safety data sheets in SDSCom format from various providers and hazardous substance portals, which gives you flexibility in your choice of sources.
- Future-proof: SDSCom is a format that is supported by numerous manufacturers and players in the chemical industry. With compatibility to version 4.x of SDSCom, you are ideally equipped for the future and can count on further developments and improvements to the format.
Simple creation of operating instructions
The operating instructions are an important part of occupational health and safety and hazardous substance safety in every company. With the new SDSCom support, you can now create operating instructions in sam® even faster and more efficiently without losing essential information from the safety data sheets. This not only contributes to compliance with legal requirements, but also promotes safety in the workplace.
Availability
The new function is now available to all sam® users. To use it, you only need digital safety data sheets in SDSCom XML format, which you can obtain from supporting manufacturers or via hazardous substance portals.
