GAMING LEGENDS 2.0: Play and donate!

Glowing thumbs, smoking heads: The GAMING LEGENDS 2.0 once again demanded everything from all gamers at secova! The randomly selected teams of two once again had to fight for survival until the three winning pairs were determined after a tough elimination battle. But whether noob or pro gamer, great victories or bitter defeats – in the end, all participants and even the “fans” from Team secova who were just watching had great fun! Of course, there was also a total of €450 in prize money to be won. In typical secova fashion, this was passed on as a donation to three charitable organizations in total, with each winning team being able to choose their recipient.

And what was played this time? The gamer organizing committee decided on “Super Bomberman R” on the Nintendo Switch. Every duel could be followed live on the big screen, accompanied by loud cheers of course! Each team was allowed to compete in at least two matches (lasting around 2-5 minutes), and depending on their ability (and luck), they could go all the way to the final. In the small final for third place, the pairing Rika & Jörg came out on top – they will pass on their prize money (€100) to “Herzenswünsche e.V.”. The grand final was won by Jeremy & Patrick against Christoph & Dennis by the narrowest of margins, making them the champions of GAMING LEGENDS 2.0.

“Easy!” Patrick said wryly about their joint victory, but Jeremy admitted: “The further we got, the more tense I became.” He is all the more pleased that he was able to choose the recipient of his prize (€200): It is the “Reptile Rescue Center” in Hersonissos, Crete, which he has already visited personally during a vacation and found to be very committed and friendly. Christoph and Dennis, who narrowly lost, handed over their prize (€150) to “NaturZoo Rheine,” with its more than 1,000 animals. And so the real winners of this playful “gaming battle” are not so much the active players themselves, but rather those who are happy to receive any financial support for their commitment.

Donating has been a cherished tradition at secova for some time now. We particularly like to combine this with our various team events and thus create double the motivation. During our annual “Active Month”, we collect sports and exercise kilometers, which we then convert into donation euros. To the Turn of the year we have not been sending postal greetings for some time now, preferring instead to shoot a joint video, which we then deliver digitally. The postage money saved is topped up and also goes to charitable organizations. And in our “living Advent calendar” 2022, all participants were allowed to choose a donation recipient for their door action. All of this is an important part of the secova spirit for us!
