Marvin is (almost) always smiling

Marvin can describe the atmosphere in the secova team in two words describe: ‘Pure harmony!’ Born in the Rhineland, he is our first trainee IT specialist for system integration. He already experienced his start with us as ‘very warm and familiar.’ After completing his vocational baccalaureate, he initially worked in the social sector as an integration assistant, among other things. ‘I wanted to try it out because I like helping and I’m also good with children. But my ultimate career aspirations have always been in the direction of IT and technology.’ And so, together with his trainer Christoph, he now works in internal support, ‘making sure that everything works technically. But we also want to further optimize processes to make certain workflows easier and faster. I get to get involved in something new here every day.’ He doesn’t just like the “What” – his pragmatic, often spontaneous field of work – but also the “how”. “Each person is approached individually and asked how they would like to work here, including choosing the right time model. In addition, there are many benefits and positive things, so that everyone at secova can be happy and enjoy going to work!”

Marvin grew up very independently and has a social attitude: ‘I actually get on well with everyone, but I always try to stand up for the weaker ones in particular.’ Curiosity and a thirst for knowledge also characterize him: ‘I actually question almost everything – whether as a 12-year-old the function of my brother’s Playstation or the 4,500-year-old construction of the pyramids of Giza. As soon as there’s something I don’t understand, I’m hooked!’ In his free time, he enjoys playing chess, but is particularly enthusiastic about drawing: ‘I’m a big fan of anime and manga! But basically I try to give my creativity as much space as possible every day.’ Marvin also likes to get behind the stove and cook, preferring Tamil cuisine based on recipes from his German mother: ‘My father is the only one from Sri Lanka, but my mother also wants to teach us a bit about the culture through food.’ He also has a great passion for soccer, although these days – apart from the occasional kickabout with the boys (or at a fun tournament in our secova team) – more than a fan. His life motto comes from a piece of wisdom from Buddha: “Smile and the world will change!”
