Legally required instructions: Who is required and when?

The duty to provide training lies with the employer. It can be delegated organizationally but not legally.

All employees must be instructed, e.g.:

• Permanent employees, part-time employees, and hourly workers
• Interns, apprentices, student workers
• Temporary workers and employees working from home

Initial instruction takes place before the first day of work, repetitions at least annually or in the event of incidents such as accidents or new machines. Content must be communicated understandably, even in the presence of language barriers.
