Legally required instructions: Who is obliged and when?

The duty to instruct lies with the employer. It can be delegated organizationally, but not legally.

All employees must be instructed, e.g:

  • Permanent employees, part-time and mini-jobbers
  • Interns, trainees, working students
  • Temporary workers and employees working from home

Initial training takes place before the first day of work, repeated at least once a year or on occasions such as accidents or new machines. Content must be communicated in an understandable way, even if there are language barriers.
