At Schuh Mücke, sam® is an integral part of everyday working life

The occupational safety software is particularly impressive due to its simple and user-friendly operation, excellent knowledge transfer and maximum flexibility thanks to its stationary and mobile usability

The Mücke Group relies across the board for all employees on the EHS solution system sam® from secova. Viola Mierisch (HR Business Partner) is there Since 2020, contact person for employees and consultant for managers in the areas of recruiting, HR marketing and communication. She manages the sam® platform for the company across all departments and talks about her experiences and impressions of her day-to-day work in this interview.

Ms. Mierisch, how long have you been using the sam® occupational health and safety software at Schuh Mücke and for how many employees is it in use?

“The Mücke Group has been using sam® from secova since 2018. The training software is available to our approximately 750 employees at 16 different locations.

The sam® solution system is therefore an integral part of our day-to-day work.”

What are the most important advantages of this online solution system for you?

“The secova system makes it possible to comprehensively train all employees at our various locations while saving resources. All topics can be carried out via the PC, but also via your own mobile devices with the sam® EHS Manager app. This gives our employees the greatest possible flexibility.

Through targeted assignment and appropriate instructions, we can ensure that all our employees complete the training within the specified time periods. On the other hand, together with their corresponding logging and evaluation, this ensures that we as an employer properly fulfill our operational and legal obligations.

The simple and user-friendly operation – both for the trainees and the trained staff – rounds off the online solution and thus an excellent transfer of knowledge.”

Schuh Mücke’s employees are spread across numerous locations. How does sam® make it easier for you to ensure that everyone actually successfully completes the training courses assigned to them?

“Our employees are informed by the system when training is due and overdue. However, this reminder is not only sent to them, but also to the responsible managers.
In order to actively involve our managers in this process, they receive regular training overviews from sam® showing them which employees are due for training and which are overdue.

By scheduling training courses, employees are also made aware of a training course “shortly before it expires”.
However, the personal approach not only gives managers more responsibility, but also all employees. The employee can decide for himself or herself within the specified framework when which training course is to be completed. This promotes both our self-determined work and the personal responsibility of our employees.”

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has certainly presented your company with major challenges. How could sam® help you to master your numerous tasks in everyday working life despite contact restrictions, social distancing and working from home?

“Special times require special implementations. The coronavirus situation has not only thrown our entire professional and private daily routine off course, but also our training concept. This special situation has prompted us to increase digitalization and, in addition to a new meeting culture, we have also set up a digital training concept.

With sam®, secova offered us the perfect platform to incorporate our own content – be it management, product knowledge and health workshops, exam preparation content for trainees or changes to the protection and hygiene concept.

In addition to the combination of text, images and specially produced videos, sam® makes it possible to incorporate interactive elements such as knowledge queries. This mix enabled us to maintain the transfer of knowledge despite social distancing and to keep our employees motivated and maintain a sense of unity during this difficult time.”

What do your employees themselves say about sam®, how is it generally accepted and where do they see the advantages?

“In response, I would simply like to reproduce three statements from colleagues:”

  • The dressing book is very easy to use and data protection is guaranteed.

  • Good tool for delivering occupational safety training to employees in an efficient and standardized manner.

  • The structured arrangement of the subject content provides a good overview.

What can you say about secova’s service in terms of advice, speed and results?

“We’ve all waited desperately on hold for a hotline at some point – not so with secova!

If a problem arises that cannot be solved via the Help Center, all you need to do is make a brief inquiry and your personal contact will get in touch with us. And should a more complicated problem arise, there’s nothing to stop a digital meeting.

The customer service and our direct contact person have never disappointed us over the last few years.”

Which of the numerous sam® function modules do you already use and which would you like to use in the future?

We currently use the sam® EHS Base System modules for instructions, risk assessment, incident management/record book and the cockpit/dashboard as well as the already mentioned sam® EHS Manager app. Idea management and compliance management are also very exciting functional modules for us.

Idea management could certainly be used to quickly identify and query potential for improvement. In this way, employees can actively contribute to the further development and success of our company.

Compliance management and adherence to all rules and legal obligations within the company is becoming increasingly important. For this, secova offers very well thought-out solutions with its holistic, coordinated software system sam® – according to current information – thus making everyday work easier!
